Hi there, I am Lucia

Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.

How It Started

Relocating to Spain wasn’t part of our long-term plan. Like many relocations for expats, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.

The initial few months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more intricate than expected.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But slowly, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.

Why I Built MeadowBrookCo

Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.

This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Practical insights from life in Spain
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated when a real change occurs

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a sponsored review platform
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we learn.

If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Cheers,

Lucia
